professional script coverage
I once heard that Mike Nichols said, “Every script needs a friend.”
Meaning, every screenplay needs someone other than the writer to say, “Yes! I see the possibility in this. I see the gold. I like it. Keep going.”
Also meaning (because a true friend tells the truth), “I see the flaws, but we can work with them. Here are some ideas! I’m on your side. Keep going.”
If you’re looking for a profoundly encouraging but honest response to your screenplay (including actionable ideas and tips), then we should work together.
I’m Rebecca weaver.
I’ve sold screenplays, I directed an award-winning feature film, & I’ve done script coverage for 12 years.
how does it work?
You email me a PDF of your screenplay. Then I read it and send back 4-5 pages of comprehensive analysis on your script.
I break it down by category: structure, character, dialogue, conflict, pacing, logic, and overall presentation (standard formatting, readability, etc.).
Some writers use a rating system. I do not. I just tell you plain and simple what’s working and what isn’t (yet)—and what I’d recommend in your next draft.
I have to warn you:
I’m incredibly enthusiastic about screenwriting. it’s almost obnoxious.
(almost.)
Meaning, I will get weirdly way too into it. I will gush about your script. I will walk around with your script on my mind in my daily life while I’m doing coverage for you. I will treat your script like it’s mine.
I just love doing this. I love talking story and characters and of all their individual thematic arcs and emotional resonance and on and on.
You will walk away from working with me with a rush of enthusiasm and actionable ideas for your script.
You will walk away from our time together with a renewed sense of clarity and confidence in your script and in yourself.
